Torn in Half - or Just a Story?
I was told something strange.
According to my direct supervisor, the company president saw the write-up they gave me, the one connected to the recruiter I had spent months reporting, and he tore it up. Ripped it in half. Because, she said, he didn't believe the recruiter.
She told me that directly. Said it almost like it should reassure me.
But I've never been sure if that was true, or if it was something she said to calm me down. To stop me from escalating. To make me think someone, somewhere, had my back.
I did see the paper.
In fact, I was forced to sign it.
Even though it was retaliation. Even though the person who caused all the harm faced no discipline at all.
And that's what makes it worse. It will be interesting to see if that form still exists.
Because what's been shredded on paper may still be recoverable in truth.
And I'm not done asking.
